

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh organized a virtual meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Takamol Holdings, which designs and operates labour market programmes in the Kingdom, to explore ways and means for the effective implementation of the Skills Verification Programme (SVP) and the Qualification Verification Programme (QVP) for Sri Lankan professional, skilled and semi-skilled workers seeking employment in Saudi Arabia.
Delivering the introductory remarks, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, outlined the objectives of the meeting which aimed at further enhancing employment opportunities for Sri Lankan professional, skilled, and semi-skilled manpower in Saudi Arabia.
The General Manager of the Skills Verification Programme and the Operations Manager for Sri Lanka of Takamol Holdings, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), as well as the Minister/Head of Chancery and the Counsellor of the Employment and Welfare Section of the Embassy, participated in the interactive discussions.
The meeting resulted in productive outcomes, with both sides emphasizing the importance of increasing nationwide awareness of the SVP and QVP frameworks in Sri Lanka to further expand employment opportunities for Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom.
Takamol Holdings, the operator and custodian of both SVP and QVP verification systems for the Saudi labour market, is currently implementing the Skills Verification Programme for nationals of forty (40) labour-sending countries including Sri Lanka.
