Sri Lankan Community in Riyadh contributes 100,000 Saudi Riyals to the Emergency Flood Relief Fund

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh has organized a series of emergency fund-raising events to support the victims of the devastating floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. During the first day event held at the Embassy premises, the Sri Lankan community in Riyadh contributed one hundred thousand Saudi Riyals (US $ 26,666). The contributions were handed over to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad.

Sri Lankan organizations, individuals, and the staff of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh contributed this amount as an expression of their solidarity and support for those affected by this unprecedented natural calamity back home.

While expressing sincere gratitude to the community in Riyadh for their valuable contributions during this critical hour for the country, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad highlighted that Sri Lankans living abroad have always risen to the occasion and acted swiftly to support their brothers and sisters back home whenever a call for help comes from their beloved motherland. He further noted that the Sri Lankan community abroad has invariably been a source of hope and a tower of strength to the nation. Ambassador also appealed to all members of the Sri Lankan community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to join this worthy cause towards rebuilding the nation.
