Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. O.L. Ameer Ajwad, graced “Raja Bojun”, a celebration of Sri Lanka’s rich culinary heritage, organized by the InterContinental Al Khobar on 1 October 2026 at the InterContinental Hotel in Al Khobar, Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A variety of Sri Lankan cuisine, prepared by celebrated Sri Lankan chefs serving in the Kingdom, was showcased to highlight the rich culinary heritage and traditions of Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad commended the initiative of the InterContinental Al Khobar and highlighted that Sri Lanka is a land of warm hospitality, where hospitality is not merely a tradition but a way of life. He added that Sri Lankan cuisine is much more than food; it is a reflection of the country’s history, cultural diversity, traditions and the warmth of its people.
A large number of members of the Sri Lankan community in the Eastern Province and neighbouring Bahrain, as well as Saudi nationals, participated in this mouth-watering culinary event, which showcased an array of authentic Sri Lankan dishes and celebrated the country’s rich culinary traditions.
