Arab News, the oldest English-language daily newspaper in Saudi Arabia and one of the Middle East’s most influential media organizations, is now available online in the Sinhala language of Sri Lanka. Marking a significant milestone in strengthening media and cultural ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, officially launched the Sinhala-language online edition of Arab News.
The launch represents an important step towards making Saudi Arabia’s leading English-language newspaper more accessible to Sinhala-speaking audiences in Sri Lanka, as well as to the Sri Lankan community residing in the Kingdom and around the world. It is expected to enhance mutual understanding, strengthen people-to-people connectivity, and further deepen the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad expressed his sincere appreciation to Arab News for accommodating his request to include the Sinhala language among the newspaper’s 50 language editions. He stated that this landmark initiative adds a new dimension to Saudi Arabia–Sri Lanka bilateral relations by fostering greater mutual understanding and serving as a platform to advance cooperation across areas of shared interest.
The Sinhala-language edition can be accessed by visiting arabnews.com, clicking “Login / Register”, and creating a free account using an email address. After logging in, users can select Sinhala (සිංහල) under Language Preferences, after which Arab News content will be displayed in Sinhala language.
