





As a part of the initiative by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh to reach out to the Sri Lankan expatriates living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad launched a Sri Lankan migrant worker community forum in Jubal region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 3rd October 2025 with an objective of facilitating consular, labour and community welfare services as well as promoting cultural and recreational activities among the Sri Lankan community in the Jubail region.
Inaugurating the Sri Lankan Jubail community forum at the “Katharaka Sathsara” event organized by the forum, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad emphasized the importance of maintaining intimate nexus between the Sri Lanka community and the country’s Embassy. While highlighting Government of Sri Lanka’s policy of people-centric and migrant friendly governance, Ambassador outlined the initiatives that are being implemented by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh to reach out to the Sri Lankan migrant workers living across the the Kingdom, including the Embassy’s fortnightly signature programme named “Talk to Your Ambassador.” Ambassador also shared information on the benefits announced by the Government of Sri Lanka for the benefits of Sri Lankan migrant workers and their families.
President of the Sri Lanka Community Club Jubail, Lalith Kumara appreciated the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh for initiating such a community forum in Jubail region of the Kingdom and underscored the importance of it to maintain a closer connection between the country’s Embassy and the Sri Lankan expatriates who live in distant areas in the Kingdom from the Embassy in Riyadh.
Ambassador presented trophies to the winning Sri Lankan community teams at the cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Community Club Jubail.
Sri Lanka Embassy Employment & Welfare and Consular Mobile service team who conducted monthly mobile consular service programme in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom in Dammam including Counsellor Employment & Welfare Mangala Randeniya, Consular Attache Chamara Perera and Accounts officer Kasun Wijesinghe also participated during the event. Owner of Abdullah al Ahmari Group, Abdullah Al Ahmari also participated as a guest at the event. A large number of Sri Lankan community members living in Jubail and the surrounding areas participated during the event.
Jubail is a city in the Eastern province on the Persian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia and a home to one of the largest industrial cities in the world. A sizable Sri Lankan community members are living and working in Jubail.
