The staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, along with Ambassador O.L. Ameer Ajwad, joined together in taking the Integrity Pledge at a solemn ceremony held on 27 July 2026 at the Embassy premises in Riyadh, marking the commencement of National Integrity Week (27–31 July 2026).
The event was organized under the national initiative, “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka,” which promotes an integrity-driven public service. The initiative seeks to cultivate a public sector founded on integrity while ensuring quality, efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the delivery of public services.
Addressing the Embassy staff, Ambassador O.L. Ameer Ajwad underscored that integrity is the foundation of an effective, credible, and citizen-centred public service. He emphasized that integrity entails honesty, accountability, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right, even in the absence of supervision. He further noted that diplomats and public officers are entrusted with significant responsibilities while serving abroad, and that every action and decision they make reflects not only on the institution they serve but also on the image and reputation of Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador encouraged all members of the Embassy to continue fostering a culture of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties, thereby strengthening public confidence and ensuring the continued trust and satisfaction of the Sri Lankan community of migrant workers and all those who seek the Embassy’s services in foreign soil.
National Integrity Week is spearheaded by the Presidential Secretariat under the Clean Sri Lanka programme, reflecting the Government’s commitment to eradicating corruption, promoting ethical governance, and fostering a culture of integrity throughout the public sector.
The Embassy staff also participated virtually in the event held earlier that morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, reaffirming their collective commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity in public service.
